I too wonder about the former inhabitants, those who built and lived in these homes. Nice work and evocative of the rural Midwest. I feel 'at home' admiring this work, at the same time its a little sad. Well done.

How very sad to see homes abandoned like this. My mind always wonders...what happened? How long has this home been like this? I would say for awhile. It is definitely in a state of disrepair, with the porch having a slant like that. You captured it during the cold winter months and the snow adds to the air of melancholy.
Scott Kingery replied:
Thank you, Karen. I fully intend to go back there and see if the door opens. Would like to see inside. There is a farm down the road, but nothing around this house, not even a barn or shed.

I like the composition on this one, Scott .. very sad and lonely feel ... great find ... the hint of lace curtains at the window goes right to the heart!! l/f
Scott Kingery replied:
Thank you, Lois. My question to you, Would you have gone in? I didn't try the door. Perhaps I will go back when the snow is gone.
