About Scott Kingery
In college, I actually started out as a Forestry major before making the switch to Fine Art. Most of my art course work was completed at Sacramento State College in California, with an emphasis in Illustration. I received a BFA from Indiana University in 1977. I worked as a graphic artist for over thirty five years. My art interests have always been eclectic. I too wonder about the former inhabitants, those who built and lived in these homes. Nice work and evocative of the rural Midwest. I feel 'at home' admiring this work, at the same time its a little sad. Well done.
Scott Kingery replied:
Thank you for the visit and the nice comment, Helena.

How very sad to see homes abandoned like this. My mind always wonders...what happened? How long has this home been like this? I would say for awhile. It is definitely in a state of disrepair, with the porch having a slant like that. You captured it during the cold winter months and the snow adds to the air of melancholy.
Scott Kingery replied:
Thank you, Karen. I fully intend to go back there and see if the door opens. Would like to see inside. There is a farm down the road, but nothing around this house, not even a barn or shed.

I like the composition on this one, Scott .. very sad and lonely feel ... great find ... the hint of lace curtains at the window goes right to the heart!! l/f
Scott Kingery replied:
Thank you, Lois. My question to you, Would you have gone in? I didn't try the door. Perhaps I will go back when the snow is gone.
