Once this area was the largest inland lake in Indiana (Beaver Lake). The lake was drained for agriculture in the 1920s. These days, the Nature Conservancy is busy restoring this area to tall grass prairie. The prairie is punctuated in a few spots with small, sandy dunes. The Kankakee Sands prairie restoration is in Newton County, Indiana.

In college, I actually started out as a Forestry major before making the switch to Fine Art. Most of my art course work was completed at Sacramento State College in California, with an emphasis in Illustration. I received a BFA from Indiana University in 1977. I worked as a graphic artist for over thirty five years. My art interests have always been eclectic. I like experimenting with different media, exploring ways to add texture, and combining different media. That illustrator part of me always comes back to realism though.
