As a young girl, my mother played the piano. I have never heard her play. There is a collection of music books (The Scribner Radio Music Library second printing dated 1946) among my mother's things. My mother's granddaughter picked up one of the books the other day and flipped through it and found this pressed rose. I have no idea the story behind it and as my mother is recently deceased, will never know the story.
In college, I actually started out as a Forestry major before making the switch to Fine Art. Most of my art course work was completed at Sacramento State College in California, with an emphasis in Illustration. I received a BFA from Indiana University in 1977. I worked as a graphic artist for over thirty five years. My art interests have always been eclectic. I like experimenting with different media, exploring ways to add texture, and combining different media. That illustrator part of me always comes back to realism though. My favorite mediums have always been acrylic and collage. In recent years however, I have gone to working in colored pencils (prismacolor and also pastel pencils).
