Description
This image was taken at Black Rock Nature Preserve, part of the NICHES Land Trust. NICHES has been preserving ecosystems in west central Indiana since 1995. This nature preserve protects an unusual sandstone promontory that rises over 100 feet above the Wabash River (glimpsed through the trees). According to the preserve's description, Tecumseh’s warriors were stationed here in 1811 waiting for General Harrison’s troops before the Battle of Tippecanoe. Later, in 1838 the Potowatomi Trail of Death camped near this location. Black Rock Preserve is near Otterbein, Indiana.
